green circle salon
Our team at Fahrenheit has a great love for the environment, therefore we want to do our part to protect it. We feel that it is important for us to be transparent about our sustainability practices so our guests understand the potential impacts a simple visit to the salon can have.
We are the first and only salon that is Green Circle Certified. Being a Green Circle Salon means that we have our contaminated waste properly and safely recycled or composted. We proudly divert 95% of our waste from the landfill.
To reduce our water consumption we have switched to only using ECOHEADS which greatly reduces water & energy usage by up to 65%.
Foils, colour tubes, aerosol cans and other metals are melted down and upcycled into new products such as roadsigns.
Hair clippings are used to make booms (hair stuffed in nylon casings) to clean water polluted by oil spills. Due to the absorbency of hair, these booms can be reused up to 10 times. When they are all used up, they are then dropped into mushroom fields where the spores break these booms down into nothing. Hair clippings are also being used to make stronger, advanced building materials.
Colour waste is put through a process that results in 97% of its waste being returned to the water table. The air during this process is cleaned using air scrubbers, and then released back into the atmosphere.
We recycle our paper and plastics locally
We store compost in our freezer until we have a large enough amount to transfer into our local compost.
how it works

hair clippings
Our hair clippings are sent out to be either composted with other organic waste, turned into bio-composite plastic to make new products like recycling bins, used to research and develop new environmental technology like insulation and stormwater filtration or made into products to be used for humanitarian efforts.

excess hair color
At the Green Circle facility, excess hair color will be either turned into clean energy or separated into water and oil. The water is cleaned and returned into the water system and the oil is blended into fuel.

metals
Foils, colour tubes and aerosol containers are sorted by grade and type then melted down into ingots which are aluminium sheets or bars and then are used to make products like car parts and bicycles.

quality & eco-responsible
how we choose our products
We carefully select products that are both high quality, and safe for both you and the environment. We only choose products that we as professional hairstylists trust, and enjoy using daily on our clients
